CRYSTAL LAKE – McHenry County College’s Continuing Education Department is offering classes to invigorate mind and body.
The following classes are accepting registration:
• Xtend Barre: A total body workout that sculpts the body proportionally and serves to strengthen, lengthen and stretch the body from top to bottom. Developed from a dance/Pilates background, the Xtend workout combines the results of dance with the principles of Pilates, while providing two cardio elements, burning up to 450 calories at the barre. The class is from 10 to 11 a.m. Fridays, April 12 through May 10, at Body and Mind Pilates Plus, 1500 Carlemont Drive, Suite B, in Crystal Lake. The cost is $50. Use course ID: NHE S71 005 when registering.
• Beginner’s yoga: Helps improve strength and flexibility. Asanas (postures) will be explored as they relate to everyday movements and activities. Bring a large towel and wear comfortable stretch clothing, but nothing too loose. Do not eat a large meal before class and please do not wear perfumes or scented body products. The class is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays, March 30 through April 20, at Kalitrea Yoga studio, 4410 Route 176 in Crystal Lake, one-half mile east of Route 31 on the north side. The cost is $45. Use course ID: NHE S13 004 when registering.
